One of the vital aids for Ukraine is internet access via Starlink satellite from Elon Musk's company, SpaceX. Now, the exact number of devices sent there is revealed by the richest people in the world.
In his post on Twitter, Elon Musk revealed that as many as 15,000 Starlink devices have been shipped to Ukraine. Quoted by us from Cnet, Tuesday (7/6/2022) the device activates the internet from satellite and keeps Ukrainians online.
Internet assistance from SpaceX has been provided since the end of last February. Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said in early May that Starlink Internet was used by about 150,000 Ukrainians.
"Starlink is very helpful to us, in relation to the blockade in our occupied cities. I am very grateful for the support of Starlink," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Internet in Ukraine has been severely disrupted, even paralyzed, since the Russian invasion on February 24. The reason is, Russia is attacking telecommunications infrastructure in Ukraine.
Initially, the internet connection from the Starlink satellite operated by SpaceX was intended to help Ukrainians. But later, the Ukrainian military also used it as a powerful weapon against Russia.
"We use Starlink devices and connect between the drone and our team. If we use the drone at night with thermal vision, the drone must connect to Starlink on the artillery team and create a target acquisition," said one Ukrainian combat drone pilot.
Many Ukrainians also thanked Elon Musk, one of them Alex Chubay as Chief Technology Officer of the Ukrainian software company, Softserve. Alex works at one of the company's headquarters located in Austin, USA.
"Elon Musk sent the Starlink device to Ukraine and as far as I know, the device is already operational and brings tremendous benefits, especially in areas where there is no internet connection," he said.
