Auracast By Bluetooth SIG Facilitates Wireless Audio Sharing

Sharing audio from one device to several wireless audio accessories is not a new concept. Bluetooth was seen coming up with an Audio Sharing function a while back, and has now expanded the scope of the technology for wider use with a new feature called Auracast.

After confirming the Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) specification recently, they also introduced Auracast, a new technology that allows devices that support it to transmit audio signals wirelessly to audio accessories that support it as well.

Aside from sharing personal audio from the device to your friends, this example of using Auracast is also like at the airport when you are watching television, where the display can transmit audio directly to your audio accessory, whether it is TWS earphones, gadgets hearing aids or compact speakers.

Announcements that are normally made through speakers can also be transmitted directly to the headset, which is something that is very useful especially when you choose not to mix with others by listening to your favorite songs.

Bluetooth SIG says that Auracast broadcasts can also be searched through a list that resembles a list of WiFi networks and users can choose to join any desired broadcast. Auracast will take advantage of Bluetooth LE technology as well which promises good audio quality using very little bandwidth, which means that you don’t necessarily have to buy earphones at a premium price to enjoy this feature.

Auracast will be introduced via the Bluetooth 5.2 standard which also includes Bluetooth LE technology which will be unveiled in the coming months. If you want to learn more about this technology, the Bluetooth SIG website contains a more in -depth description of Auracast.
