As reported yesterday, Twitter began the process of reducing their workforce today. Twitter staff will receive an email from the human resources department no later than 12 tonight when Malaysia confirms their employment status.
According to a report by The Washington Post, up to 50% of Twitter's 7,500 employees will be laid off. On social media former employees have already confirmed that they received the notice and can no longer access work emails and Slack channels. This is seen as a drastic cost-cutting move by Twitter after being taken over by Elon Musk.
Throughout Friday, Twitter's headquarters will be closed with staff asked to work from home for security reasons. Employees are also reminded not to share company secrets on social media and the media.
