Esports Is Not Just Playing Games, But...

The game industry, especially esports, is growing, especially in Indonesia. The Indonesian Esports Council (PBESI), also said that this ecosystem is not only about playing games or holding tournaments.

"However, esports is a sport that has become a large industry with tremendous economic, social and cultural potential that touches the sports achievements, the creative economy, tourism, technology and even education," said PBESI Chief Executive, Bambang Sunarwibowo.

Bambang also revealed that esports is a field that requires seriousness, intelligence, creativity, and integrity. According to him, through the 2022 Indonesia Esports Summit, it can create synergies for the purpose of empowerment and optimization in all sectors that make up its ecosystem.

As we all know, IES 2022 started on December 2. The event itself was opened directly by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) of the Republic of Indonesia, Zainudin Amali.

"The holding of this spectacular international event is a big leap in its vision as the leading power in Asia, even in the world. Hopefully this event will be the starting point for a new history to make a big contribution to esports for the nation and the country," said Zainudin.

The Indonesia Esports Summit 2022 itself has a main agenda, namely the IESF 14th World Esports Championships Bali 2022. The event is predicted to be the biggest esports competition in the world, presenting 688 athletes from 105 countries.

There are six titles being contested, starting from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends, eFootball 2023, Dota 2, and Tekken 7. The fun lasts for 10 days, starting from 2-11 December 2022.

This was also appreciated by the President of IESF, Vlad Marinescu. He stated that Indonesia exceeded expectations as the host for the esports world championship.

"All of you here in this beautiful country and those watching are a testament to and a reflection of the growth and progress of the World Esports Family," he concluded.

For esports fans in Indonesia who haven't had the chance to visit Bali, they can watch it online. Live broadcasts can be watched on the PBESI and Garudaku Youtube channels.
