Android 13 was launched in August last year after almost six months it is now used by 5.2% of Android devices worldwide according to the latest graphics of Android Studio. Google no longer publishes the percentage of Android operating system usage on a monthly basis for the past few years because it often looks sad.
Android 11 is the most used version with it holding 24.4% followed by Android 10 (19.5%), Android 12 (18.9%), Android 9 Pie (13.2%) and Android Oreo (9.5%). It's quite interesting to see that there are still 0.7% of devices using Android KitKat that are almost 10 years old.
Although Project Mainline has been activated, the updating process on Android devices is still slow because it has to be done in stages unlike what Apple does. However, manufacturers such as Samsung are now managing to shorten waiting times and provide longer update support for Android devices.
