If you follow automotive news closely, you must know that there are brands that are brought to Malaysia not directly, but through collaboration with local companies. The Hyundai brand, which was previously distributed by Hyundai Sime Motors, has now been directly operated by Hyundai again and will be known as Hyundai Motor Malaysia.
Through this introduction, Hyundai Motor Malaysia also stated their commitment to the Malaysian market, and shared some of their plans. For now, their immediate plan is to market cars assembled at the local factory, INOKOM Kedah, starting in the third quarter of 2025. Furthermore, through their direct commitment to the market, it will allow them to offer cars that have been adapted to the road conditions in Malaysia according to the tastes of local consumers. This is also in line with the investment commitment worth RM 2.16 million in Malaysia.
They also announced 3 new vehicles which also include hybrid versions, namely the Staria, Tucson and Santa Fe. This is the only model they will offer and for now Hyundai is still planning to offer electric vehicles in Malaysia and taking into account various factors including government support such as EV ownership incentives before offering it in Malaysia. In the ASEAN region, Hyundai has EV-focused factories in Indonesia and Singapore and this allows Hyundai's popular electric vehicle, the IONIQ, to be imported from the Singapore factory for sale in Malaysia. For existing Hyundai IONIQ owners, all warranties offered through Hyundai Sime Motors will also be extended from now on.
