Xiaomi has officially introduced its Redmi K90 series of smartphones, which has drawn criticism from many due to its slightly higher price than usual. In response, Xiaomi said that the cost of producing the phone has increased due to the rising memory chip prices in the market compared to before.
The base model of the Redmi K90 is priced at RMB2599, which is around RM1550. This price is seen as a slight increase compared to previous Redmi offerings which were slightly lower.
One of the reasons is that the demand for chips and memory for artificial intelligence development has increased, causing the supply for chips used in smartphones and laptops to decrease, leading to an increase in their cost price.
