It's no secret that NVIDIA, after only offering graphics cards for PCs for a long time, will now offer their own integrated processor chip (SoC) for laptops. It will use Arm architecture to give competition to Qualcomm in this market. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Dell and Lenovo will be the first two companies to offer laptops with this NVIDIA processor.
It is expected to arrive before the end of this year and it will combine the CPU, GPU and AI cores just like the processor chips in the Qualcomm Snapdragon X and Apple A. It will target more use in lightweight laptops, have high AI performance but still have high battery performance.
Arm-based chips have proven to be able to offer high power but do not consume much power compared to X86 chips. The only issue is with Windows, there are still performance issues and some applications are not yet compatible.
The issue for NVIDIA is how their Arm-based laptops will reach the market when the industry is experiencing memory and SSD shortages caused by themselves.
