OpenAI Reportedly Wants to Develop AI-Focused Smartphones

OpenAI is already rumored to be coming out with a number of artificial intelligence-based devices, and the latest report says that OpenAI is in the process of working with MediaTek and Qualcomm to develop chips for smartphones. This chip is expected to power the first smartphone to be released by OpenAI.

According to popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, OpenAI will focus on integrating AI agents in managing and performing a number of different tasks – and not on applications like Google and Apple do. The development of its own smartphone is also expected to allow OpenAI to experiment and develop various things without relying on other parties.

The smartphone is also expected to come with support for understanding users, including understanding various contexts of use by a person. However, it is not known whether many people will be comfortable sharing data with OpenAI.

According to initial reports, OpenAI is expected to produce this smartphone by 2028. In addition to OpenAI, Nothing has also expressed its intention to focus on the integration and introduction of AI devices, while Google, Samsung and Apple are each focusing more on integrating AI support through their devices at the moment.
