Kelana Jaya Line to Receive 26 New Train Sets by 2031

Working from home has been encouraged by the government for civil servants since the fuel crisis caused by the Middle East war. But sector workers still have to go to the office because when encouraged, employers will choose not to make changes. For the workforce in the Klang Valley, the demand for working from home has increased due to the problems of the Kelana Jaya Line LRT that occur almost every day.

Rapid Rail, which operates the Kelana Kaya line, announced yesterday that they will add 26 new train sets to replace the aging trains that are causing frequent disruptions. In addition, these new trains will increase capacity, increasing operational efficiency.

The first new trains are expected to arrive in 2029 and the replacement process will be completed by the end of 2030. The new trains will begin operating in 203. Among the issues faced by Rapid is that the capacity of the Kelana Jaya line has now reached 109% in April driven by the increase in fuel prices, causing high congestion.

While waiting for the arrival of the new trains, Rapid is using the condition-based maintenance (CBM) method. Inspections will be carried out more frequently with components showing early signs of damage being replaced immediately without waiting for a manual schedule.
