Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo Reportedly Reducing Device Production by Up to 30% Due to RAM Crisis

Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have told their suppliers that they will reduce their smartphone production by up to 30% due to the worsening RAM crisis. According to a Nikkei report, Xiaomi has reduced phone production to 95 million compared to 170 million last year. Previously, they were reported to be targeting production of 135 million phones. Last year, Xiaomi was the manufacturer with the third largest market share behind Samsung and Apple.

Oppo and Vivo are also reported to have reduced production to around 90 million smartphones this year. In addition to these three Chinese smartphone giants, Honor is also reported to be reducing production. The impact of the RAM shortage has caused prices to increase by up to 4 times since October 2025.

All smartphone manufacturers are affected by this crisis, with sales also expected to decline as device prices have become too expensive. Apple has not yet raised the price of the iPhone, but the price of other devices has increased sharply last week.

They can be said to be lucky because they are still able to release new devices. CMF by Nothing and ASUS announced that they will not launch new phones this year due to being unable to obtain RAM supplies.
