Valve's PC gaming console, the Steam Machine, launched a few weeks ago, and while its specs and price tag suggest it offers mid-range performance at a premium price, sales of the console have reportedly been quite encouraging.
According to calculations by Boiling Steam, a website that tracks a lot of news and announcements about Valve and Steam offerings, Valve is estimated to have sold around 12,000 to 15,000 Steam Machine units every week since it launched.
Boiling Steam has shown how they do this calculation, and it starts with listing the Steam Machine as the second best-selling product on Steam's top-selling list. As a private company, Valve rarely reveals details of sales, revenue, and profits made throughout the year.
However, they do know how Steam lists its best-selling products, which typically uses the value and total price of the product, rather than the number of units sold. This means that with the Steam Machine, they can calculate how many units are sold when compared to other games.
By calculating using the product position and also the selling price tag, they have obtained an estimate of the Steam Machine product sales since it was launched on June 23, 2026 until July 18, 2026, last week. By taking into account several other aspects of the calculation, the estimated unit sales are 12 thousand to 15 thousand units per week for that period.
This is not so surprising because the Steam Machine is seen to sell out quickly every time the opportunity to buy it opens. Unfortunately, the Steam Machine is not officially sold for the Malaysian market, and stores that are seen selling this console through third parties sell it at a very expensive price.
