Google Buys Airline Business Data to Train AI Models



Google is now seen bidding to acquire Spirit Airlines' business data, for $10 million. For your information, Spirit Airlines is a low-cost airline based in the United States, which was founded in 1964, but was declared bankrupt before ceasing operations in May 2026.


Google is bidding to obtain internal business data with the aim of assisting in product development and training their AI models. The data included is seen to include employee emails, messages on Microsoft Teams, various documents and calendar data, in addition to data involving operations, productivity and marketing.


It is said that customer data will be anonymized before being sold. In addition to Google, there are other companies also bidding to obtain the data for the purpose of training their AI models.


Various companies that develop artificial intelligence models are now looking at different and unique data to train their models, and have their own advantages in terms of training and offering to their customers.
