Alamak! Google Meet Now Free for up to 60 Minutes a day

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, Google has provided the Google Meet service to all Gmail users for free with no call duration limit. But these benefits are now obsolete and the duration of the free Google Meet is now limited.
Google first made the Meet service free for all users in April 2020 with a 24 -hour call time limit and a total number of participants up to 100 people.

They planned to limit the free version of Meet to September 30, 2020, but it was canceled to help users stay in touch during the year -end holidays. Google then extended the free version of the Meet service until March 31, 2021, and thereafter extended it again until June 30, 2021.

Since Google didn’t announce the update before that deadline, now the free version of the Meet service for official Gmail users is limited.

Excerpted from 9to5Google, Tuesday (13/7/2021) Gmail users who want to access Meet for free can now only make video calls or online meetings with three or more people for 60 minutes. The number of participants who can join does not change, remains 100 people.

At the 55th minute, all participants will receive a notification that their call will end soon. Users are then asked to upgrade their Google account if they wish to continue calling.

Upgrading the account in question by Google is by subscribing to the Google Workspace service. Google itself has just launched the Individual Workspace edition in five countries with a subscription fee of USD 9.99 per month.

Users who have subscribed to the Workspace service can enjoy premium Google Meet services such as video calls for up to 24 hours, recording features, lounges, and other productivity services offered by Google.

If you don’t want to pay a lot each month, Google Meet users can also overcome this restriction by creating a new link to be able to continue the meeting or conversation for the next 60 minutes.

Fortunately, for calls that only involve two participants, or one against one, it can still be done for 24 hours. The 60 -minute time limit only applies to calls with three or more participants.
