Gojek Co-Founder & CEO Kevin Aluwi will be GoTo Commissioner

 


GoJe co founder and CEO and Director of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) Kevin Aluwi will strengthen GoTo's board of commissioners. This decision will be asked for approval in one of the agenda of the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) which will be held on 28 June.

"I am very proud and grateful to be able to build Gojek into a leading on-demand service used by millions of Indonesians and Southeast Asians," said Kevin Aluwi, Director of GoTo as well as Co-Founder and CEO of Gojek in a written statement, Monday (6/6/2022). .


Kevin will dedicate his time to support GoTo management in achieving its vision and mission to drive progress for users and partners in the GoTo ecosystem, as well as the communities in which the company operates.



In his role as GoTo's Board of Commissioners later, Kevin will focus on supporting the development of electric vehicles in Gojek as part of the company's commitment to 'zero emissions' by 2030. Kevin will also be a member of the Board of Commissioners of Electrum, a joint venture company of Gojek and TBS Energi Utama which focus on building an integrated and holistic two-wheeled electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.


After obtaining shareholder approval, Kevin's roles and responsibilities as CEO of Gojek will be held by Andre Soelistyo, who currently serves as CEO of GoTo.


Kevin has built a strong management team at Gojek who will work closely with Andre to run GoTo's on-demand business strategy.


Kevin said, Gojek, led by a solid and experienced management team, managed to score an encouraging performance with a 58% increase in gross revenue in Q1-2022, which was supported, among other things, by the recovery in the mobility business.


"I am very optimistic about the future of Gojek, especially with the formation of GoTo last year and the listing of GoTo as a public company on the IDX," he said.


He explained that after leading Gojek for almost a decade, this was the right time for him to take on a new role in supporting GoTo's strategy strengthening and growth. "At the same time, I will also have more time to develop my personal interest in technology. I really want to build useful technologies that can make the world a better place. Areas that I currently want to develop include web3, gaming and climate tech ," he said.



"In my capacity as commissioner later, I will continue to support GoTo in presenting technology solutions for the wider community, as well as providing strategic direction to management to ensure the achievement of the company's vision and mission in the long term," he continued.


Andre Soelistyo, CEO of GoTo, expressed his appreciation for Kevin's leadership at Gojek so far. "We are very grateful and grateful for Kevin's role and leadership in bringing the company through various phases of growth to make Gojek a world-class technology platform operating in Indonesia and Southeast Asia."


"It's been an honor for me to be able to work with Kevin for almost 10 years, as well as form GoTo and bring the company to the IDX floor, together with the management team at GoTo," said Andre.


According to Andre, Kevin has a very important role in developing Gojek into a world-class technology platform and building a solid management team that has been able to navigate and grow Gojek's business during the pandemic.


"I have always admired Kevin's vision and passion in presenting technology solutions that benefit the wider community. Furthermore, I will work more closely with Gojek's management to reach the next stage of growth," he said.



"I am sure that in his capacity as commissioner, Kevin's experience and expertise in producing technological solutions that are beneficial to the wider community will continue to provide added value for GoTo's growth going forward," continued Andre.


Kevin will replace Caesar Sengupta's position on the GoTo Board of Commissioners. Caesar will focus on growing his startup business, Arbo Works, and also continue to carry out his role as a member of the GoTo Financial Board of Commissioners. Caesar Sengupta is a Google veteran for 15 years and most recently served as General Manager & Vice President, Payments & Next Billion Users in April 2021. Currently, Caesar is Co-Founder and CEO at fintech startup Arbo Works based in the United States and Singapore.


This change will not have an impact on Gojek's daily operations. Kevin's transition from the board of directors to the board of commissioners, will be effective after obtaining shareholder approval at the GoTo AGM 28 June 2022.


Prior to joining Gojek, Kevin had worked at Zalora Indonesia as Head of Business Intelligence and as Business Development Manager at Merah Putih Inc. This alumnus of the University of Southern California-Marshall School of Business, USA, started his career as an Investment Banking Analyst at Salem Partners LLC. Kevin was awarded the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia award for the Consumer Technology category in 2016 and Fortune 40 Under 40 in 2022 by Fortune Indonesia.
