Official: EU Requires All Smartphones Using USB-C From 2024, Including iPhone

The European Union has now reached an agreement, saying all smartphones, tablets and cameras sold in European countries will need to have a USB-C charging port by 2024.

With this new legislation, it will require Apple to also convert their Lightning chargers to USB-C – and will be the manufacturer most impressed by the new legislation.

This legislation was implemented to make it easier for users to use only USB-C chargers – while reducing wastage, and using one charger for multiple devices.

For now, this legislation in the EU only applies to devices that charge wirelessly, and doesn't affect devices that charge wirelessly.
