After trying to go to war with major companies that refuse to use Twitter as an advertising medium, Elon Musk today issued a claim that Apple wants to remove the Twitter application from the App Store.
In a tweet sent, Musk said Apple refused to give a reason why Apple wanted to remove the app from the App Store. He also said that Apple asked Twitter to do a content moderation process before and after it was taken over by Elon Musk earlier this month. This is in line with Apple's previous request to pull the Tumblr app from the App Store due to concerns about pornographic content being easily accessible without censorship.
After laying off more than half the workforce, the team censoring problematic, obscene and intellectual property-infringing content was among those affected. In a Wired report today, Twitter is said to have only one staff member tasked with removing pornographic and child abuse content.
Last week Phil Schiller, Apple's product chief deleted his Twitter account suddenly for no reason. Apple, which was Twitter's largest advertiser in Q1 2022, is now reportedly stopping all forms of advertising.
