Last year was not a satisfactory year for Samsung due to the failure of the Exynos 9200 chip which uses the Samsung Semiconductor foundry. Then they didn't get in touch to produce the latest Apple and Snapdragon chips because the TSMC foundry took them all. So this week there is a report that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that will be used by the Galaxy S23 series will be produced by Samsung Semiconductor.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip for this Samsung device will be overclocked on the CPU and GPU to provide higher performance than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip currently used on the Vivo X90 Pro+. This may be Samsung's way of ensuring sufficient supply for chips while simultaneously awarding contracts to its own foundries that have been losing customers lately.
In addition to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Samsung Semiconductor also produces Tensor G2 and G1 chips for Google.
