Leak: Data of Nearly 500 Million WhatsApp Users Allegedly Sold – 11 Million of Which Said to be Malaysian Users

Through one of the leading forums among hackers, it is now seen that around 500 million WhatsApp data records have been sold. It is said to be the latest database, and involves user data from over 80 countries, including Malaysia.

According to the figures shared, almost 11.6 million user data that was also sold is said to be from Malaysia.

It is not known how this data was obtained or compiled. However, the hacker through a related forum stated that the data sold involved active users of WhatsApp. Previously, there were several times when large-sized data was sold, where it was collected by hackers using the scrapping method - where it was collected through a number of sources without hacking the system.

For now, Meta has not released any comments related to this leak.

For the public, you are asked to be careful with any messages received through WhatsApp, as there is a possibility that such data is used in sending spam or malicious links.
