Videos With Crude Language Can Now Generate Revenue Through Ads

The adpocalypse that occurred almost a decade ago has taken a toll on YouTube content creators' income. Following the bad behavior of Logan Paul and PewDiePie, YouTube tightened the conditions for content that can generate revenue through advertising to keep advertisers happy. Today, YouTube's advertising guidelines have been amended to allow videos with crude language in the beginning to generate full revenue.

This is different from the previous guidelines which strictly instructed that any crude language such as swearing should not be used in the first 7 seconds of the video. If this was done, monetization would be limited by the video having a yellow $ icon when viewed through YouTube Studio.

However, limits will be imposed if coarse language is used in the title and also in the thumbnail of the video. Videos filled with non-stop crude language will also be subject to limits on generating ad revenue. The change announced by YouTube has received a positive reaction from content creators. Many feel the need to self-censor and the use of padded language such as PDF and unlived is no longer appropriate.
