This year, YouTube introduced the “Affiliate Program” feature through YouTube Shopping. Through it, content publishers in Malaysia can directly add links to products on the Shopee e-commerce site, while generating additional income through any purchases that occur through it.
After a few months, the YouTube Shopping affiliate program has now also been expanded with support for Lazada.
Content creators in Malaysia can now add links to products listed on Lazada, and subsequently generate income for any purchases that occur on the platform.
For content creators on YouTube, you can tag a product when uploading a video to the platform, and select related products. All search and tagging processes can be done directly through the YouTube interface and do not need to go to the Lazada or Shopee site.
This new integration is seen to have begun to be activated for content publishers in Malaysia. Perhaps after Shopee and Lazada, we may see the integration of more e-commerce companies through YouTube Shopping in the future
