The long-awaited has finally arrived, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been officially launched, including for the Malaysian market. Externally, the changes can be said to be quite minimal except for the design which now resembles the Z Fold series. In terms of software, it is seen to be more mature with consistent improvements.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with a 6.9″ QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also equipped with Vision Booster technology which is known for its clearer display capabilities. Although on paper its specifications are still almost the same as several previous models, this year there is an interesting new feature, namely Privacy Screen.
In short, this function allows the screen display to only be seen clearly from the front. Those on the side will not be able to see the content because the screen will appear dark. This feature makes the Galaxy S26 Ultra safer to use in public places, especially for those who value privacy.
The mainstay of the Galaxy S26 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip with memory options of up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. However, this storage capacity depends on the region and like the previous generation, there is no microSD card support provided.
This device is matched with the latest OneUI 8.5 interface based on Android 16 with Bixby support which is now smarter for a better experience. There is also a new feature called Now Nudge which is capable of providing real-time suggestions based on the user's daily activities and messages. In addition, the Creative Studio function is also provided for creative editing purposes, with prompt support to produce more interactive images.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra camera setup consists of 50MP ultra-wide, 200MP wide, 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom, and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom followed by a 12MP front camera. In terms of video recording, it supports up to 8K at 30FPS with the advantage of stabilization that can be locked to produce more stable videos.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra maintains its focus on Nightography with a larger sensor for clearer images. AI is now able to identify the scene, adjust color tones according to mood and perform automatic edits that look natural. In terms of battery, it comes with a 5000mAh capacity with 60W fast charging that can reach 75% in 30 minutes. It also supports 25W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare function to charge other devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is launched in Malaysia starting at RM6,799 (12/512GB) and RM7,999 (16GB/1TB).
