Telekom Malaysia, one of the local telecommunications infrastructure operators, today signed a three-year contract with U Mobile to operate their second 5G network under development.
Under the agreement, U Mobile will provide end-to-end 5G MOCN (Multi Operator Core Network) services, including comprehensive network provision, seamless system integration, activation, testing and continuous optimization that will enable TM to offer robust, scalable and high-quality 5G connectivity to its customers.
This also means that TM will not renew its existing 5G network contract with Digital Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s first 5G network operator held by Maxis, CelcomDigi and Yes.
With this announcement, U Mobile, through their CEO Wong Heang Tuck, also said that they are targeting that the second 5G network coverage will cover 80 percent of the populated areas throughout Malaysia by the middle of this year, and that the process is progressing smoothly.
