Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme Match Maps

In the second quarter of 2021, calculations from research company Omdia say that smartphone sales began to rise after the Corona outbreak. Here are their interesting findings:
Samsung is still number one, Xiaomi overtaking Apple

Between April and June 2021, 299.1 million smartphones were sold, up 6.9% from the same period last year. Samsung is still the first winner with shipments of 57.3 million units and a market share of 19%.

Behind Samsung or ranked number two, Xiaomi overtook Apple with shipments of 49.9 million units and a 17%market share. Xiaomi’s increase is very drastic, by 72.9%. This is due to the huge demand outside Asia Pacific, especially Europe. Especially since Huawei got sanctions by the United States.

Trend Realme, Oppo and Vivo Rise

Apple is in third place with a 14%market share. Stepping into third and fourth positions were Oppo and Vivo, with deliveries of 32.5 million and 31.6 million units, respectively. Both brands are growing rapidly following their expansion into Europe and Huawei’s decline.

Oppo’s sub-brand, Realme, also showcased impressive performance. Realme shipments jumped 174.5 percent to 11.4 million units and reached a 4%market share. This strengthens their position as the sixth largest smartphone vendor in the world.

Good Performance Motorola

Motorola phones that previously looked sinking turned out to be very good in the first half of 2021. Their shipments increased 42.8% in the second quarter with 10.6 million units shipped.

Motorola’s focus on 5G smartphones pays off well, especially in the United States. The seller, which is now below Lenovo, is in 7th position with a 4%market share.

Huawei Struggle, Honors in the Top Ten

Huawei typically competes with Apple and Samsung, but sanctions from the United States ultimately have a big impact. They dropped to 8th position with 9.8 million units shipped and 3% market share. Huawei is now fighting for the Harmony OS operating system to be acceptable to as many users as possible.

Honor, who was initially a subsidiary of Huawei, decided to split up and was eventually able to return to using Google services. Second Quarter of 2021, Honor shipped 6.7 million smartphones, a decrease of 61.1%. However, Honor has not sold its products outside of China. If they had grown, they would probably fly in the future.
